A good study guide ONLY if you have the TEXT to go with it!!!

This workbook is ONLY useful if you have the associated textbook. THIS WORKBOOK HAS NO ANSWERS to any of the questions, i found it useless for this matter. It has nicely illustrated diagrams and plenty review questions, but if you are not sure on the answers or don't have the text to find the answers forget it!!

This workbook was in great condition, and there were no marks or notes already in it. It would have been nice to have the answers in the back instead of having to get them online, but at least they were available.

This is a great book. As technical as a smart guy would want. So many books dont go in depth but this author does and im grateful for the real knowledge i gained from reading it. Recommend highly.

I was given this book to review by the YDSA, being a practising yacht surveyor in Britain. I found it to be a very poor book, written by somebody who, so far as can be seen, is not a marine surveyor but a lecturer in marine ventilation. A colleague who also reviewed the book agreed.It would be of no help, and could be misleading.

When someone asks me to name my favorite among all the books I've written,  I ask them what a parent of three or four or six children might say if asked to name their favorite, and they get the point: I love them all. No one is better, only different.

Certainly my first, or signature book, Way of the Peaceful Warrior, is best known, and close to my heart. Yet each book provides its own unique facets. And yet . . . and yet . . . I do have a special feeling about The Four Purposes of Life.  Because it truly delivers on the promise of its subtitle -- "finding meaning and direction in a changing world." 

This book, which offers hope as well as encouraging reminders, is both timely and timeless, exploring and answering deep (yet often unasked) questions at the core of our lives:  What am I here to do? What do I really want?  Is getting what I want going to take me to where I want to be? And finally, What is the purpose of my life?

This book contains some important elements from earlier books, but for the first time places them in their proper context.  After reading it once, and even again, most readers will experience a quantum leap in wisdom and perspective that can last a lifetime.

Transcending the daily grind

Although I have had Millman's No Ordinary Moments book in my house for 20 years, I notice now that it gathered dust after reading a chapter or two. Why did I suddenly delve into buying more of his books if I didn't finish the first? As one reviewer said, when the student is ready, the teacher will come, or somesuch saying as that. Perhaps I wasn't ready or was distracted by life which this little, fast read is all about. Other reviewers have done a collective synopsis of the book and all I can say is, if you don't have time to read all his other books through because life gets in the way, at least get this one which you won't be able to put down. One statement he made and expanded on was the same statement I used when living through times of seeming disgruntlement with my job: make every moment count. Now with disgruntlements of retirement, I am reminded of that statement from this book and these words and others are even more important today for me. They can become mantras for daily living, plus they pave the way to transcend the daily grind outward to the big picture and then back again to the reality of now. Happy reading!

Found the first 2 chapters to be the best. Wish I had had this book about 40 ...

This book with significant content derived from some of his other books is a quick read with extremely helpful ideas for those seeking an approach to bring focus to their lives and a basis for making significant decisions. While beneficial to everyone, I think it could be especially helpful to younger adults in their 20s or 30s who are having difficulty finding or discovering a constructive path for themselves. It offers a methodology for approaching life and assessing one's own strengths in a meaningful way. Found the first 2 chapters to be the best. Wish I had had this book about 40 years ago.

Another Excellent Millman POV

Love Dan's books, and way of life. I started my journey over 20 years ago w/ Way of the Peaceful Warrior .... got me heading in the right direction (for me). I have given out many copies as gifts along the way. Almost done with the "4 Purposes of Life". Clear and poignant reading. Thanks Dan !
