In comparison to other books I've read on this topic, this book motivates a great deal, is brutal but honest, and is extremely thought-provoking. The reader can relate to the topics discussed through experience, especially if you were ever a business owner. Grover highlights the essential key factors to becoming a better achiever through tips and helpful advice. This book points out the mistakes we made in the past, how to fix those mistakes, how to learn to work under pressure, and much more. The advice given in reference to placing your emotions behind you, and never giving up I found myself are essential tips to follow for moving up on the job. In addition, there are other important factors to contemplate such as believing in yourself, how to adapt, and control. I found this book to be inspiring, informative, and useful to learning how to achieve the goals you desire. I would use this as a guide and reference to read again, while attempting to achieve my own goals for the future. Highly recommended!

I had to come back and write this review because some of the negative reviews they're displaying on the main page almost talked me out of buying this book! Then I thought to myself.. "Man, who am I going to listen to? Some weak scrubs who took the time out of their day to write a poor review on Amazon OR a highly successful trainer who has been the go-to guy for some of the top basketball legends who ever played?"So I bought the book.BOOM! It nails it. I can relate to a lot of what he says. I've always known that there are just a lot of weak people out there that can't keep up or perform at top levels. That's not something to ignore and say "oh everybody is special in their own way" or "i'm sure he's a nice person so it's okay" - when it's time to perform you have to perform! End of story. This book is for the people who can (or at least have the desire and are working on being able to) perform at top levels. It goes into the mindset of a high achiever. It gives you permission to act the way you already know you want to act deep down inside. If you always listen to the weak people and their beliefs on how you should behave it begins to tame your inner beast! This book is a breath of fresh air in a world where there's an epidemic of mediocrity and conformity and weakness.

Iâ€™m happy I found this book the summer before my sophomore year of high school. Iâ€™ll tell a small story.Iâ€™m a small forward for the girls varsity basketball team at my school. I did in fact play varsity my freshman year not only lettering, but also starting 99% of the games(only not starting when I was â€œineligibleâ€).I started with four seniors, three of which had incredible talent. You can already see how I might have been a little intimidated.I like to think i have pretty good skills. I ended the season averaging about 7 points a game, when I was only supposed to be a fifth person on the court.( I know itâ€™s not really that impressive). The entire season I struggled to maintain my dominance on the court always being pushed down by the seniors. It got to the point where I was yelling at my teammates and referees on the court. It left me somewhat scarred and unable to return to the game I had originally came in with.My mental game was destroyed even more than it already was. I have been repeatedly scolded by my couch in my summer league about my attitude and body language towards my teammates.Itâ€™s hard to change who you are. Itâ€™s hard to suppress your anger when your teammates have no interest in winning. Right now we are 0-6 in a freaking summer league. Iâ€™ve been told by every adult in my life that I need to be a leader, but how can you be a leader when nobody listens and your coach constantly shuts you down?This book has taught me that I donâ€™t need to change who I am. Iâ€™m not broken. Iâ€™m not somebody who has to suppress their feelings to make everybody else happy. Tim Grover has written a book that tells people like me that who I am is my greatest asset. I should channel the anger I get while playing into my game. If my teammate misses a shot I should get the rebound and put it back up. If they turn the ball over I need to be the first one back on defense to stop the fast break.This book is a work of gold. Itâ€™s not a self help book if thatâ€™s what youâ€™re looking for. Itâ€™s not going to give you step by step details of how to be the best. Grover explains his experiences training the best of the best and how he helped them get there. He gave us a blueprint for success and invited us to take the journey needed to make it. I highly suggest you purchase this book.Sorry if itâ€™s a bit too TMI. I felt that I needed to really explain why and how this book impacted me. I hope that if you decide to purchase the book you succeed in whatever youâ€™re striving for and I hope youâ€™re ready to put in the work to make it happen.

It screams, very goat like. Great novelty gift. We use it to broadcast over the radio when something goat like occurs. Just wish it was louder, i mean come on its a novelty gift, why not be obnoxiously loud? My dogs chewed up the body of the first one i bought (i bought two) but it still screams so I am still happy

This goat is very therapeutic!I like to activate the scream of "Nifler" (For some reason his (her?) name is hidden in the battery sheet!) instead of cursing and complaining. It's infinitely more pleasant that listening to me and you can't help but smile -- even if it's a micro-smile -- when you hear Nifler's emoting.I may get one for the office for those too frequent occasions when I'm frustrated with my computer.

Disappointing. I bought two of these, expecting to love it so much that I'd want to give one as a gift. The first one I opened and "played" was a huge disappointment like listening to a screaming goat through cotton balls shoved into my ears; the second one was perhaps one decibel better.This goat does not "scream". You can hear it but it's not even remotely loud enough to elicit a grin or a laugh at a party of sober individuals; you'll get a "meh" at best. Worst of all, perhaps, is that it doesn't sound like any screaming goat I've ever heard. (I have six small breed goats and have had larger goats and I know what goat screams sound like.) I cannot believe it's an actual goat scream; it's more like a bad voice actor's rendition of a goat's scream after hearing it exactly once.Although the sculpture itself is cute (I'll give it two stars for that), I don't recommend this product. It's just too disappointing...

This is definitely one for the books. Bought it as a white elephant gift and it ended up going home with my boyfriend. He loves making it scream. It's maybe a 3-4 inch figure, but it comes with a little book with lots of goat facts and the scream cracks us both up all of the time.

This little guy has put a smile on the face of everyone who has met him. Affectionately known in our house as "Scruffy", this item was a wonderful gag gift for anyone who loves goats or has a good sense of humor. The book is entertaining and surprisingly well made and designed. Perfect stocking stuffer or just because surprise.

This audio course is good. I do think it would be a little fast for a complete beginner to use in their car, but for those who already have some knowledge, it's perfect. On the contrary, it would be fine for a complete beginner to use at home when they're able to devote plenty of attention to the lesson.The lessons aren't very long. Each lesson consists of about 7-9 parts which in total would last for about several minutes. Though you are supposed to go over each one a few times until you understand the lesson.It does teach some grammar, although i recommend a separate book for that for more understanding in why some things are said a certain way.One thing that bugs me about this course is that between the german man woman who are talking in the exercises, the man usually says some things quickly and unclear, which can be frustrating at times. You'll find yourself going back several times trying to hear what the guy said. This course does come with a booklet, but it only covers the main conversation of each lesson, then it includes some vocabulary for that lesson which is great. At the back of the booklet are some simple and basic grammar tables which can be very useful.I definitely recommend this course to any beginner.

I have gone through only two CD's so far, and already I can tell that the overall format is fantastic. This CD's covers everything from basics ... the alphabet, numbers, days of week & months, and also makes use of modern verbage. It also includes bits of useful information on culture ... as to what is accepted or not. What makes this CD a very good tool is that it does use English to tell you what is being said, and it also quizzes you at the end of each lesson ... asking you in English to speak & answer in German. The answer is then spoken in German, after a comfortable pause, to check yourself. As with most lauguage learning tools, repetition is the key, and it is easily done via CD.

This is my fourth purchases from the Living Language All-Audio series. These are great to rip to mp3/iTunes and listen to in your car during a long commute. A book is included for when you have some time to sit down, but you can participate in the lessons entirely aurally. Really enjoy the structure of these courses.

I was disappointed by this CD set. For the most part there is no apparent method to the madness. You are given a random english word or phrase and the german translation. Most of the time with no to give you time to repeat the phrase in german. Some sections have a little order. It takes you through days of the week, counting, months. And all of the information was accurate. But overall it seems like I was listening to an audio english to german dictionary. I would recommend checking out Pimsleur's language program. It is a much better program...though much more expensive. Cheers.

This audio CD has helped me a bit with my German. It's good to get used to hearing the language, and it does provide useful practical words and information. My only hang-ups about this product is that they speak really fast and I found myself constantly rewinding to hear everything. If they had spoken the words more slowly and enunciated on the sounds, it would've been far easier to interpret what was actually said. Still a decent buy for a cheap price.

This was pretty good, listened to it in my car for a few weeks before I went to Germany for my first visit. It is an easier way to learn. Just pop it in and learn. Won't make you an expert, but very helpful.

Very useful for working on proper pronunciation and learning spoken vocabulary in preparation for travel to German speaking countries. "ALL AUDIO" does include a small bocklet which simply lists vocabulary learned in each lesson. I would like to see this bocklet beefed up a bit.

This is an older version (1993) of the Ampleforth's prayer book. I have the new version also. The older is interesting as it has some info the new does not. It was hard to find and came to me used from England. I use it quite a lot for my LOH.

A good simplification of the Liturgy of the Hours

This volume from Ampleforth Abbey Press provides Morning, Evening and Night Prayers in a very simplified form as an introduction to the Liturgy of the Hours. It provides a serious of traditional prayers, stations of the cross, rosary, commendation of the dying, hymns in Latin and English etc.
Morning prayer follows a two week cycle and consists of a prayer, a psalm, a Scriptural reading, the Our Father, the Hail Mary and a concluding prayer. Evening prayer follows a one week cycle in the same pattern. Night prayer is unvarying - a prayer, a psalm, a reading, the Nunc Dimittis a concluding prayer and blessing with an optional antiphon to Mary.
An interesting touch is that each page has, in the position of a footnot, a proverb or statment for reflection.
This volume is exceptionally well printed and easy to use. It serves as an excellent starting point for praying of the psalms and Scripture.

From New Hampshire in 1776 to Louisiana in 1992, state constitutional conventions have served not only as instruments of democracy but also as forums for revising federal principles and institutions.

In The American State Constitutional Tradition, John Dinan shows that state constitutions are much more than mere echoes of the federal document. The first comprehensive study of all 114 state constitutional conventions for which there are recorded debates, his book shows that state constitutional debates in many ways better reflect the accumulated wisdom of American constitution-makers than do the more traditional studies of the federal constitution.

Wielding extraordinary command over a mass of historical detail, Dinan clarifies the alternatives considered by state constitution makers and the reasons for the adoption or rejection of various governing principles and institutions. Among other things, he shows that the states are nearly universal in their rejection of the rigid federal model of the constitutional amendment process, favoring more flexible procedures for constitutional change; they often grant citizens greater direct participation in law-making; they have debated and at times rejected the value of bicameralism; and they have altered the veto powers of both the executive and judicial branches.

Dinan also shows that, while the Founders favored a minimalist design and focused exclusively on protecting individuals from government action, state constitution makers have often adopted more detailed constitutions, sometimes specifying positive rights that depend on government action for their enforcement. Moreover, unlike the federal constitution, state constitutions often contain provisions dedicated to the formation of citizen character, ranging from compulsory schooling to the regulation of gambling or liquor.

By integrating state constitution making with the federal constitutional tradition, this path-breaking work widens and deepens our understanding of the principles by which we've chosen to govern ourselves.

McCarthy, a pathologist, and Frassica, an orthopedic surgeon, both at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, have collaborated to produce an eminently readable and informative book. In the introduction they state that the book is designed to be an introductory textbook for residents in pathology and orthopedic surgery and that it represents the minimum that such residents should aspire to learn during their residency. The authors have succeeded admirably in this plan. They present the entire spectrum of radiologic and pathological features of diseases of the bones and joints in logical sequence. The text is lucidly written, and the book can easily be read from cover to cover. This comprehensive and current book could be a useful addition to the libraries of practicing general orthopedic surgeons, radiologists, and pathologists as well as of those with a more specialized interest in the field.

The first chapter, an overview of skeletal diseases, emphasizes the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis of these diseases. It is followed by an elegantly illustrated and valuable review of the anatomy and physiology of bone. The succeeding chapters are devoted to detailed clinical, radiologic, and pathological features of bone and joint diseases, grouped into several disease categories. A later chapter reviews joint arthroplasty, including historical aspects and the features of failed prostheses. The final chapter gives practical advice on biopsy techniques and on the handling of surgical specimens. The success of such a book depends on high-quality images, and the carefully chosen illustrations -- radiologic images and gross and microscopical specimens -- are indeed of excellent quality.

The locations of certain neoplasms described in the text, however, do not always correspond precisely to the locations depicted in the diagrams of the skeleton; for instance, lymphomas are described as occurring more frequently in jawbones but not illustrated this way. The text is accurate, with only a rare exception. In discussing the relation of osteofibrous dysplasia to adamantinoma, the authors state that no case of transformation of osteofibrous dysplasia to adamantinoma has been reported, but such cases have, in fact, been reported. These minor imperfections notwithstanding, this is an excellent book.
