About the Author
Matt Wilder has been climbing seriously for the past 13 years. During this time he has climbed and bouldered extensively thoughout the States and Europe. A New England native, he has spent over a month each year in Yosemite for the past 10 years. In addition to bouldering, Matt has a passion for trad and big wall free climbing and has spent many days monkeying around on the Yosemite walls. In the past Matt has worked as a Yosemite pizza shop janitor, a telemarketer, a programming intern, a Rubik s Cube street performer, a guidebook author, a high school math teacher, and a computer science research assistant. He lives in Boulder, CO where he is pursuing a graduate degree in artificial intelligence and computational neuroscience.

good book

A guidebook cannot have every route in it, they would be unpublishable. The day it would go to press someone would FA something and all the work would be out of date. That being said this guidebook is very cool. Great descriptions and an awesome amount of history accompany full color photography work. Truly makes an out of towner want to go give the camp 4 boulders a shot.

A Good Guidebook

Supertopo's Yosemite Valley Bouldering is a good guide; however, I found some of the maps to be a bit inaccurate or not exactly representative of their respective areas. There certainly is enough to keep you busy though. Overall a worthy guide, and certainly better than other guidebooks I've owned. If you can catch it for cheaper than msrp snag it!

I've never been a fan of Supertopo books. Low quality print and even worse, content. Compare this to the 2nd edition Bishop Bouldering guide or the fine job the guys did on the Red Rocks bouldering guide. Just doesn't really cut it. This book WILL get you around from place to place but heck it didn't even have King Air? What gives?

If you can't find a better guide, get this one, but get it used. Don't blow your money on a new one; it's just not worth it.

Don't get me wrong...I LOVE Yosemite and plan to go there regularly, I just DON'T love this guidebook~

Like having the greatest minds in the history of jazz opened up in front of you...if you're willing to put in the time to study.

This is an excellent collection of transcribed solos for study and analysis. I like that the transcriptions are taken from a broad range of instruments and across the entire spectrum of jazz history. I hope, and I can easily see, how this book could carry over for several volumes much like the Hal Leonard Real Books. To break it down:

-42 sax transcriptions
-35 trumpet/flugelhorn/cornet
-26 piano
-19 guitar
-10 bass
-8 trombone
-6 vibes
-1 flute
-1 harmonica
-1 violin

As a piano player I also appreciate that the left hand is included in the transcribed piano solos instead of just the melody.

Furthermore, there are songs that are represented more than once with different soloists, so you can see how different soloists approach the same tune. For example..I really like seeing both Herbie Hancock's Dolphin Dance along with Ahmad Jamal's take on the same tune. You get Miles, Jim Hall, and Herbie Hancock's solos on the tune My Funny Valentine..and a few other instances where multiple transcriptions of solos for one tune are included.

I should also mention that there is a review here stating that the source of the transcriptions is not listed...this is not accurate. In the beginning of the book right after the table of contents there is an index by instrument that also shows the recording the transcription was pulled from. I nearly let that erroneous review steer me away from this book as that would've been a tragic oversight..I'm glad I didn't

Overall this is a very well put together book with tons of ideas to be pulled and internalized in order to be made your own. With careful study and analysis this is a treasure trove of jazz language. And don't be afraid to explore solos outside of your instrument! This book isn't meant to take the place of doing your own transcriptions as this book only takes a microscopic slice out of an enormous history of jazz, but it is certainly nice to have all these great solos. Bravo..and I'm certainly hoping there are more volumes released in this series.

No written history has brought Grenadian women to the forefront in one book like this one.

Grenadian women on the home front - heads of households, toilers in the field, bakers in the village, keepers of the coal-pot, organizers of groups; raising all the children [and more from the neighborhood], keeping them going to church and school.

Grenadian women in the public eye - Ministers of Government, Ambassadors to the United Nations, Inspectors of Police, Presidents of the Senate, martyrs of the 19 October 1983 tragedy, matrons at the General Hospital, teachers and the only female Governor-General of Grenada.

These are descriptions of part of the enormity of the contribution women have made to Grenadian society in this well-researched book by Grenadian teacher and scholar Nicole Laurine Phillip.

The many close-up black and white photo portraits are an added benefit to firming up the image of women you may have heard of in passing. The over 50 personal interviews puts the author's narrative into a personable mode. Absolutely inspiring and visionary: A must read for all women

This fascinating book goes a long way in providing a basis on which many Grenadian and Caribbean women can find their true identity. The spirit of a woman is powerful and influential in every facet of the life of a society, and this is very well illustrated in this book.

The book is an easy read and is filled with stories that are inspiring and enlightening. It sheds a bright light on an amazingly dark era in the history of Grenada when ideas of equality, fraternity and Liberty were just beginning to circulate.

The harsh realities of the brutal regime of slavery meant that slaves had to re-create themselves into virtually new human beings. And in this process, women proved to be enlightened and visionaries. Their methods of resistance were sometimes sad but awesome and necessary.

Any woman who reads this book will be positively affected by it.

With this book Pedro delves into how he personally lived those seventy days in the cordillera, the day-to-day struggle to survive, and how with difficulty, a lot of hard work and strong team spirit the group created a survival machine in the mountains.

About the Author
Pedro Algorta was born in Montevideo in 1951 and is one of the sixteen survivors of the Uruguayan plane that crashed in the Andes in 1972. After the accident, he lived in Buenos Aires where he graduated with a degree in Economic Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires, and then went on to get an MBA from Stanford University. He has had a successful business career as an executive at various companies: Techint, Quilmes and Pe�aflor, among others. He is married and has three children and two grandchildren.

I went through a very difficult break-up back in 2012. This book helped reframe my perspective allowing me to move on much more quickly.

I have a friend going through something similar and I just now went back in my book archive so that I could recommend it to him.

My life is so sweet and so complete today but in those dark days this book was like a life preserver to me!

This is a great book. I found that it helped provide positive direction to the very difficult feelings I was dealing with. I enjoy the author's no nonsense approach and purposeful intentions. If you're struggling with a break up this short book is a very helpful resource.
