The Facercise program is amazing. The book is very difficult to follow, unfortunately. I ended up buying the video for it that’s also available on Amazon, and once I *saw* the exercises performed, *then* the book made sense! If you were to buy only one (book or video, which cost $25), I’d say go for the video. For the first 5 days I did the exercises twice a day, and saw dramatic results. I continue to do them every evening before bed, for months now. That’s because whenever I stop for a couple of days, I see tiny reversals in the improvement I had made in my face. You really have to keep it up. But I’ve definitely noticed my jaw is tighter, my slight double chin is gone, my eyebrows are higher, and the “11’s†lines between my eyebrows are less indented. I will continue to do these face exercises because the difference is dramatic and only takes a few days to start seeing a difference (for better, when you do them, and for worse, when you don’t). The 5 Stars is for the Facercise program in general, but the book itself is nearly useless without the video, in my opinion.
The majority of this book drones on and on about the benefits of her program, rather than focusing on better descriptions and pictures for the 13 exercises it contains. There are 132 pages with approximately 100 of them being a lot of mambo jumbo chatter we could do without. Very disappointed that with all those pages only a couple photos are given per exercise that don't give a good visual of what you are supposed to be doing. I had expected more images to visually detail each phase of the exercise, but that is not how it is with this book.The written descriptions of the exercises are very complicated and difficult to grasp. Carole's explanations for us on how to perform these are not very well thought out, nor are the limited images provided . She should have more photos or supporting facial diagrams that point to each of the areas you need to touch, stretch, or rub across. I would much rather have paid for a short 35 or 40 page version of this book if it had more details, photos, and better descriptions of the exercises, instead of this lengthy novella that really doesn't focus on the reason I purchased it--how to do the exercises! Unfortunately, there is no way to return this book, otherwise I would!
I have this book on my Kindle, but I purchased it after already owning the original Facercise book by Maggio. The original book is very good and has easy-to-follow instructions of the exercises, but this newer updated version uses different people throughout the book to demonstrate the exercises. I found it much easier to follow the exercises in the first book because they were all demonstrated by one person (Maggio herself). The original book is just much more clear about what to do, and I find the exercises in the original book do produce results. I read through this newer version once and then went back to the original book. I wish i had never purchased this one.
This is an okay introduction to facial exercises, which are intended to improve tone and overall appearance of the face by strengthening underlying muscles. This book was one of the first instructional guides I saw for facial exercise. Before I ordered the book, I watched videos on YouTube that showed some exercises, not all by Carole Maggio. When I received this book, I realized how difficult it is to do the exercises from a still photo and some printed instructions on the page. I think a video, whether it is DVD or streaming on the Internet, is much better. You can see the actual movements and positions. Another important factor is your breathing and how long you hold each position. Sometimes you might count to 10 for each repetition. For another exercise it may be more than that. I believe facial exercises do work in improving the tone and appearance of the face. But you have to have good instruction and really understand each movement. To do that effectively, you need to watch a video demonstration. I've studied other programs, such as face yoga. I think you can get something out of most of them. Carole Maggio DVDs were quite expensive the last time I shopped for one. This book is more like a brochure. If you really want to follow a program and reap the benefits, find a video.
I love the concept, but am having difficulty understanding how to perform the exercises correctly based on her instructions, which are rather vague and confusing. For example, "smile with the middle of the upper lip" or "squeeze the corner of your mouth as if sucking on two small lemons" or "visualize the sides of your face moving up along the sides of your head" - what in the world does that mean? Only one or two photos are provided for each exercise. Perhaps the DVD would be better.
I wish I could tell every woman who is concerned with the aging of her face (and maybe thinking about doing something risky, expensive and unnatural) about the "miracle" of Facercise. I have used Ms. Maggio's original program, Facercise, for years and am delighted with the results. Now I do the original program in the morning and Ultimate Facercise in the evening. Of course, there is a learning curve, but once you master the simple exercises, it takes just a short, relaxing while to do them each a.m and p.m. I had a private session with Ms. Maggio (we are the same age) and I can assure you her photos are not doctored.
I started to see results in a week. I'm only 24 and my face was sagging pretty bad. I just always looked tired or bored. I started only using the forehead exercises (where my sagging was the worst) and saw lift after about three days of exercises. I've since added the nose, face filler and the one that lifts the corners of your mouth. I'm excited to learn and try more exercises!
