Disappointed in the amount of outdated info-- no fault of the book/author, as it was published in 2011. I usually love the Lonely Planet books, but SO many reviews raved about this one over LP, so I decided to go with the people's choice- oops. That would be my fault, bummer!CONS: Outdated for 2018! In looking up some of the recommended spots, I've already found 5 that have since closed :( Not helpful when planning a trip! I found the book also harder to follow than other guides I've used. The maps are not thorough in covering the spots the book mentions and the layout is odd. I found myself flipping pages back and forth not finding what the book mentioned. I don't love how the color section is very small and the rest of the book in B&W.PROS: Historical info was very interesting (and obviously not outdated!) and photos got me very excited for my upcoming trip!However, cannot recommend in 2018. Back to Lonely Planet and TripAdviser I go!

Another fine quality offering from Moon publications..it has the same "flavor" as their other travel books. Has a great deal of very useful information on the Islands. The 7th edition was published in 2/2011...it would be nice to have another update on this book. (Most travel books on Tahiti are as old or older).

Very handy handbook for our trip to Moorea and Bora Bora. I read up on the two islands before I got there and also used it while I was there on vacation. It was helpful for us many times for good food tips on places to eat and good sight seeing tips. We are very busy people that love to explore and there are lots of things to see and do on these islands.

I have been to Tahiti and bought this book so I can great information when I return. Very detailed, pictures and mentions of many, many things to do once there. Even has the Aranui ship that travels to the Marquesas Islands. It details all the islands nearby Tahiti that you can travel to, routes to get there(either by plane or boat--if possible), when to go, what to do/see. All in all a great travel book.

I recently took a trip to Tahiti, Bora Bora and French Polynesia. I bought this book as well as Lonely Planet's Tahiti & French Polynesia. I've always had good luck with the Lonely Planet books, but this time the Moon handbook was much better. There was more information provided and the information was a lot better. If you're in debate about which one to pick out of these two, grab the Moon Tahiti book. It's better and you don't need both books.

I bought this book for a cruise we recently took to French Polynesia and was very impressed with just about everything. A warning to those who visit Nuka Hiva - which is a most delightful small island - if you do the hike to Anaho Bay for the great snorkeling. From the beach to where it is deep enough to snorkel is about 150' and you are walking on coral with lots of sea urchins. The hike is somewhat strenuous but it is not difficult.It is one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen and there are very few residents.

This is a detailed guide to Tahiti and French Polynesia. We used it for an introduction to traveling by air to Tahiti, but mostly for in depth information on the island of Mo'orea where a conference was held. As with many Moon guides, this one was great on inexpensive food ideas and places to stay as these are aimed at the international student audience. They work well for any independent traveler and are now popular with seniors and the budget-conscious in general. They also offer background and historic and cultural sections that can make any trip more interesting. Many less-visited islands are covered in addition to the most popular touristic spots.

A very enjoyable practical guide to growing a living fence, inspirational, creative and well presented. I've used several of the ideas in my garden and couldn't be happier. I bought the second copy to loan, so if it gets lost I'll still have my copy, which I still appreciate.

Good guide to espalier. However, I wish it had more technical advice, though.

It's a good book for planning and caring for your yard. There is a lot of information here and many good ideas.

An excellant book with lots of information on creating living fences. Based on the content, we decided to use three triple horizontal cordon espaliers as a "living fence" in our backyard. They look fantastic. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for alternatives to the usual expensive fencing solutions.

This is a wonderful book! It has plenty of classic recipes and many tips. Sometimes you get a book and it's filled with fancy, time consuming recipes that are impractical for every day baking. This has something for everyone. I tried one cookie and one candy recipe for Christmas this year and was very pleased with both. The recipes are categorized (drop cookies, shapes, ect) making it easy to navigate. It has lovely picture too. I'm excited to work my way through this book!

I ordered two copies of this, one for myself and the other as a gift after a friend said she liked the book. The recipes are great but I've found the need to alter a few ingredients for my own taste. It has a great variety of cookies, a great book for beginners or anyone who loves cookies. They are easy to make and the end results do look like those in the photos. Great book for the variety it contains.

Fantastic cookie cookbook. It literally has every type of cookie you can imagine. I am big on pictures in cookbooks and this one has a ton of really great pictures. We made several of the recipes for our Christmas cookies and they were delicious. Way big 5 stars!

Nelson Mandela (1918―2013) was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, politician, and philanthropist, who served as the first democratically-elected President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. Mandela established the Nelson Mandela Foundation as his post-presidential office in 1999. It is a not-for-profit organization which has, since 2004, been transformed into an archive and trusted voice on his life and times. It carries out its mandate to promote Mandela’s vision and work by convening dialogues and creating platforms for engagement around critical issues to promote social justice.Sahm Venter is a former Associated Press reporter (who covered and was witness to Mandela’s release from prison in 1990) and a longtime researcher. She has co-edited several previous books, including Notes to the Future: Words of Wisdom with Sello Hatang and Doug Abrams); 491 Days: Prisoner Number 1323/69 by Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, with Swati Dlamini; and Something to Write Home About: Reflections from the Heart of History, with Claude Colart; and co-wrote Conversations with a Gentle Soul with the late anti-apartheid struggle hero, Ahmed Kathrada.Zamaswazi Dlamini-Mandela was born in 1979 in Welkom, South Africa, close to the town of Brandfort to which her grandmother, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela was banished by the apartheid regime. This is an extremely well organized and well edited book that adds to our knowledge of one of the greatest political figures of our time. Mandela and his comrades were limited in the number of letters they could send, who they could send them to, and the length of them. They knew that their letters would be read by prison authorities, and that they might not even be mailed. And many letters mailed to them were not received.Some of the letters are demands on the prison authorities; many are thankyou notes; not just diplomatic courtesies, but a way of keeping in touch with the outside world. Some are personal letters.This is the lot of many, if not most, prisoners around the world, whether political or not. They, and those on the outside keep having to fight so that the prisoners can be heard, and they can communicate with loved ones, and receive the books and newspapers they want.Mandela managed to smuggle his autobiography, Long Walk to Freedom: The Autobiography of Nelson Mandela out of prison, and yet it wasn’t published until after he got out. With assistance, it was then updated. When the first of three editions of The Struggle Is My Life, a wonderful book of speeches was published in 1978, the imprisoned Mandela thought it was his autobiography. It is, however, at least as important as that autobiography.After he was out of prison, a new book of speeches, Nelson Mandela Speaks: Forging a Democratic, Nonracial South Africa was published in 1993. It picks up where the other left off--it was intended as a contribution to Mandela’s election campaign. This book explodes the idea that it was primarily negotiations and an election that ended apartheid. In Mandela’s speech in Cuba, he makes clear to the people of Cuba and the world that without the role that Cuba played in Angola in defeating the South African army, he wouldn’t have won release. And then the books records many of the mass demonstrations he addressed, explaining that they were essential to continue in order to win. It also records important speeches he gave abroad; to the British Parliament and to a convention of the NAACP. His message to the South African Jewish community is important to read today as anti-Semitism is on the rise, as it always is during economic crisis.The role of Cuba is highlighted in the book Cuba and Angola: Fighting for Africa's Freedom and Our Own, and published in 2013, it highlighted the role of three of the “Cuban Five" in Angola; later political prisoners in the US for defending their country against terrorist attacks from US territory. Their story is further told in It's the Poor Who Face the Savagery of the US Justice System: The Cuban Five Talk of Their Lives Within the Us Working Class.

This is an amazing book - taking the editor, Sahm Venter, some 10 years to bring this book to fruition. The letters, many never before found in print, have been collected from numerous sources and are put together here in chronological order, separated by the four different prisons in which he was incarcerated for a total of more than 27 years. These letters give the reader an insight to the courageous man he was; a man who never gave up, and who lived his life with hope and love.

In all Mandela's time in prison, his correspondence was monitored. Letters either passed the Apartheid government's satisfaction or were destroyed or kept without sending, I believe some were kept and released after he was released from prison. Even at Victor Verster prison, in the end, his letters were monitored, although he did have visitors. The point is he knew his letters were being read by prison administrators. He could not say what he may have wanted to say and, in my opinion, reduced the content of his letters to more superficial topics than he might have otherwise. Even letters that were smuggled out would not likely reveal too much as it could be used against him and others. I simply think that these prison letters reveal little about the man.I bought this book to see if there was anything I had not read before. I think all of these letters are available online and for free as well as much more at the Nelson Mandela Foundation (nelsonmandela.org). Personally, I would recommend at least 20 books and websites before getting to these letters. And, even then, I think it is difficult to gain an understanding of the man. He was a symbol and played a role. He was not that role and I am not sure how much he cared if anyone saw anything other than the role. Maybe Graca Machel will someday tell us more but few others, perhaps Walter Sisulu or Oliver Tambo, I would trust to have truly seen Mandela. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Mandela was a fake. Just the opposite. I think he was, at least after a time in prison, was secure enough in himself to lead as others may have needed to be led rather than as he might need. I personally find little of value in these letters but perhaps I am just participating in the hagiography as well.

As an ex South African, I am terribly saddened by these letters of Mandella.I am also ashamed that we as members of the white race could behave in this fashion.However Mr Mandella makes me proud that he could come out of this and behave the way he did.I truly believe that if there was such a thing as a saint in this day and age, hr would fit the bill.Michael Mullne

Reading these letters is like looking over Mr. Mandela's shoulder. He is an amazing visionary who is patient, persistent, determined and obviously a thorough and brilliant lawyer. Not all of the letters are photographed from his own handwriting.

I believe a correctly structured permanent life insurance policy is a vital part of your investment portfolio and has the ability to do many jobs for you, NOT ONLY FOR just providing income to your loved ones when you pass away. This book teaches you how to capture all the money that slips through our fingers throughout our whole working life and use it to be tax efficient, growth efficient, income and asset protective (when you pass away, early or late in life), and the ability to be your own bank by financing your purchases through yourself so you can build your own wealth instead of building all the Banks' wealth. A MUST, MUST READ!!! Bryan is right, not everyone does this because they don't know it exists. But those who do know it exists, DO USE IT! If you understand financial principles like opportunity cost, Rule of 72 (Compound interest and HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO START INVESTING AS YOUNG AS POSSIBLE ANNNNND NOT NOT NOT DISTURBING THE GROWTH OF YOUR PRINCIPLE), multi-tasking your money, then this is the book for you!! And even if you don't understand those principles, READ IT ANYWAYS! This book was very entertaining to read, to me. It wasn't "Dry" at all to me. Bryan used very realistic examples and was very clear about everything he said, so that people would not misinterpret what he's trying to explain. I recommend this to all people, investors (novice-experts), friends, family, insurance agents, anyone who wants to understand insurance more and the benefits of it.

This is the third book I've read on life insurance. Perhaps because of the knowledge I gained in the other two, or perhaps because of the way Bloom writes, I better understand these concepts after reading this book. You don't have to be a CPA or a tax attorney to understand his presentation. If you are curious to learn about one of the little known sections of the tax code to protect wealth and create a tax free retirement then read this book. One of the better ones on the subject.

Excellent book from a CPA's persepctive, rather than life insurance expert perspective. I think it makes for a better approach with some clients. I bought several copies to share with clients/prospects. I highly recommend!

Seems likes a cheerleader for the whole life insurance industry. I was hoping for a more balanced analysis of the solution. This author seems to have one tool - the whole life hammer - and every financial problem is a nail to him. Some of the math examples are disingenuous, particularly the one involving mortgages.One pro is that he explains the potentially useful features pretty well. Other than that, I'll be returning the book.

A great conceptual book! Everyone will have a different situation but the concept is well presented.I would recommend a good IUL with living benefits in most cases.

Nothing new.

i loved every piece of this book. A must read for any life insurance agent or anyone looking to further educate themselves about finance.
