The kindle version has an index but it is useless because you cannot search by page numbers but only by location. There are also a lot of scanning errors in the book. It's a shame because the book seems to contain good information. Don't waste your money on this.
The scanning was not done so well. Very hard to follow in some cases. However, the book did have good information.

Was not broken down as good as I thought it would be but has some helpful information.
I am related by marriage to one of the old Virginia families included in this book. Many members of this family have copies of this book and regard it as authoritative. The genealogies of the Anderson, Brown, Craig, Craven, Custis, Davis, Harrison, Newman, Smith, and Thomkins families are given in this book. Rosters and payrolls of the men in the Virginia companies that fought in the Revolutionary War are also compiled, as are other Revolutionary War documents and letters.In looking up General Robert E. Lee in this book, the closest thing to personal item that I was able to find is the fact that while President of Washington College in Lexington Va (now Washington and Lee University) General Lee exonerated (together with the courts) Charles H. Newman who "had a difficulty with and killed a fellow student."
