I am always cautious when it comes to getting something preowned/used because sometimes the item descriptions can't be trusted and the item has been through hell and back but I am very pleased with the way this book turned out. Of course it has the usual bumps and scrapes that comes with owning a paper back book but the description said that it was "Used-Acceptable" which in my opinion is not true. If I were to have sold this book I would have put it as "Used-Very Good" because it does not have any spine creases or any major corner scrapes or tears. All in all, I could not be any more happier with this product than I am now. Thank you for this amazing book!

I'm giving this book a 5 star review only because it was so hard to find. We needed it for a court case after a veterinarian used this 1999 book to miscalculate a dose of medication for our cat causing blindness.The Plumb's Veterinary Drug Handbooks are the go to books for professionals. They just usually use the current one.

This book is a vital and must needed item for college for a veterinary technician student! It had what you need.

Great reference book. I have horses and dogs and this helps me with medication guidelines and helps me to decide when to call a vet.

First, the bad news. This book is not complete: I ckecked some 60 drugs of common use in our clinic and I could not find about 10 of them. Some of the missing ones were dipyrone, chlorhexidine, clotrimazole and econazole, mebendazole, scopolamina, and spiramicyn. You decide whether they are important to you. On the good side, every drug that IS included in the book gets a full treatment. And I really mean full. After you read any monograph, you know everything that is to know about the drug: chemistry, compatibility, pharmacology and pharmacokinetics, uses and indications, contraindications, toxicity, doses, etc., etc., etc. The day I got the book I left it on a desk in my clinic and could not recover it for a week; every colleague had something to ckeck, and each one had words of praise for the book. On top, the binding is rugged enough to take a lot of abuse. In summary, an excellent book. I hope the 4th edition adds some of the missing items.

If you are familiar with this book, this is just the latest update, so go and buy it. If you are not, you have been missing one of the best helps that a veterinary practice may have. It is simply a collection of monographs of 90% or so of the most used drugs in a veterinary hospital (YOU will have to get the other 10% and, I assure you, it will take plenty of your time). They include everything that a conciencious veterinarian wants to now, and then a little more. The language is simply enough for any professional to understand even if one's chemistry and biochemistry is a bit rusty. What are you doing reading this? Go and get it; your patients and you need it!

The book is wonderful! The photos of all the cats are beautiful. Andrew Marttila certainly knows how to take excellent photos of kitties. Tamar Arslanian's comments and reviews of the Shop Cats are purrfect. I am thrilled to have discovered this book through KittenxLady. After I go cover-to-cover at least one more time, I will proudly display it on my coffee table. Now, when I visit my sister, I'll insist on visiting some of these kitties. :-) (My 9 year old boys, Maverick [top] and Rebel [bottom] with the book.)

I pre-ordered this book as soon as I heard about it. Got it today. Wow!I thought I'd only be reading stories about cats found in businesses in NYC, but it was more. It's a snapshot of, not only the incredible cats, but of the New Yorkers who share their lives with them. It shows how special New Yorkers are and how special the love is that New Yorkers have for their feline friends.The next time you see a cat in a shop, you'll stop and think about the special place they hold in the life of that shop.The photos are beautiful. Paired with the incredible writing, they put you in each shop next to each and every Shop cat.Pick up a copy.

Brilliant! Charming! Classic celebration of the heart and kindness of New York! What's New York without its independent shops? And what's an independent shop without an independent car presiding? The photography is as charming and spontaneous as the writing. Serving up lovely portraits that are true without being gooey! Love. It.

I has seen many posts about this book on Facebook, and ordered it from Amazon. Since it arrived, I've kept it beside my favorite chair, and have been rationing it for myself, as I don't want it to end. I only let myself read one story at a time every few days. The photos are wonderful, and the stories/tales/tails make me want to visit each store to meet the cat in person. By the second story I was reminded of a place I adored going as a child. It was a lumber store in Norwalk, CT- I think the name was Handyman Lumber. I wasn't particularly fond of lumber at the tender age of 5 or 6, but I LOVED all things cat, and this place had several. I remember going there with my folks, the smells of fresh cut lumber, the saw dust that stuck to my shoes and clothing, and sneaking away from my parents to go looking for one of the cats that called the store home. The cats weren't cuddly, but some were friendly. I recall their fur not being as soft as my cat's fur was, and they were always covered with sawdust. My mom or dad would say "we're leaving", but I always had to say goodbye to every cat I could find. That memory is almost 50 years old- I hadn't thought of that place or the cats for that entire time, until I cracked open this book. The stories and photos are wonderful, and and they brought back a wonderful memory to this crazy cat lady. Cats are my everything, and this book reminds me of the awesome way cats impact life in so many special ways. For anyone interested, it will be back in stock here on 12/20, and would make and awesome holiday gift for anyone who loves cats.

I first started reading this book because I am a cat lover. I thought hey, what a fun way to see some cute and interesting cats, right? But then I realized it really is so much more.First, the photography is amazing. Marttila has an exceptional eye at capturing not just interesting photos of the cats, but of really seizing their personality. Whether sitting in the shop window, greeting customers, hanging out with its guardian, or “supervising” the shop, the essence of each cat or kitten is clearly conveyed through the way Marttila frames his subject. The photography really is stunning.Second, the copy is great. I have never been to New York City, so I was hopeful I’d learn a little more about the city (all I ever think of when I think of NYC is Seinfeld or Friends). The personalities of these shop cats are well portrayed, and their stories are at times heartfelt, funny, and humbling. But more than that, what Arslanian has done is portray the fine details of life in New York through these glimpses into the small shops and their resident cats. I feel like I’ve not only gotten to know these shop cats and their friends and guardians, but I now have a sense of what it would be like to be a resident of the city.Third, the production of the book itself is really quality. The pictures are crisp and clear, text is easy to read, the binding and covers are sturdy, the stock is thick and rich. I’m glad to have this book not just for my own reading, but to be able to display it in my home, or to share with friends and family. I’m looking forward to picking up a few extra copies to give as holiday gifts to my fellow cat lovers or lovers of New York!

So very glad I got this book! I've already enjoyed it all the way to the end , twice. ;) Now I'm looking forward to using it as my trip planner when I finally get to visit New York City. Tamar Arslanian is such a great writer to capture the true heart of a great city. And Andrew Marttila makes me wish I could hug every single one of the little subjects (the cats , of course) LOL. Beautiful book! The photos are wonderful, it's obvious that the photographer has an appreciation for his subject matter. I love the bio information on the cats and how they came to occupy their respective shops... And humans. I was pleasantly surprised to see two kitties that I am friendly with on Instagram featured. With this meal plan and great, super-nutritious recipes, you will not be hungry. The only problem with this diet is the expense. Carbs, it turns out, are fairly cheap (pasta, potatoes, bread), while vegetables, meat and cheese can be expensive. Every time you turn around, you will be off to the vegetable stand, but it is well worth it. On this diet, you will be well fed and your family, friends, doctor and insurance company will be impressed.

This diet is full of common sense and I have lost weight by following the guidelines. It is easy to follow with lots of veggies, sensible proteins and cutting out processed foods, white flour and sugar.There are some errors in the book though. In the first two week phase, you are supposed to avoid carrots (higher sugar content) yet in the first phase recipe section, the recipe includes carrots.A minor detail to be sure, but still, this is not the only example I've noticed and I am wondering who proofed/approved this and what other errors there may be. (Hey, if you are following something to the letter and the letters are wrong....not good)This is easier to follow than Atkins and allows "good" carbs and fats.This is not so much a "diet" as a way to eat well , enjoy your food and make good choices for life.I am learning to "eat to live" instead of "living to eat" and this is a help.

I told him and another doc that i was just following the book's advice. Mostly eggs and meat to start. Got to get that protein. I also drank Ensure high protein drinks. The book came after two doctors recommended it. I'm way thru the first phase and now I can eat other foods and still eat out. I mostly have given up the bread and baked potatoes.This diet is working for me . Unbelievable.

Some miss the mark, but the majority are right on target. There's a heavy emphasis on flavor.

This is a life changing book have lost 5 lbs in a week not even following the diet just cutting out the foods that he says we need eliminate in the1st Phase like White Bread & Rice, Honey, Sugar ect and eating the good vegetables and lean meat with a little fruit. I will be starting phase 1 assoon as I eat most of the few things I chose not to throw out such as fruit ect that will spoil. I have lost the weight around my waste asstated in the book. I am ready to loose weight and get healthy. I think this is a lifestyle of eating rather than a diet or a change of dietreally. The hardcover arrived today. I can see phase 1 as being a little restrictive but it only lastsTwo Weeks.

This is a very good diet if you have a lot of motivation. I have been fortunate that several people in my family and friend are also on this diet. My husband has already lost 25lbs in a month and I have lost 11lbs.The food is easy to eat maybe a little expensive and hard to find at times but good. I still have more to lose so I plan to stay on the diet for a while. Then there is a final phase to teach you how to eat the rest of your life.

I love this plan! It is more a lifestyle than a diet: it gives tips to change your eating habits for the rest of your life, without feeling hungry that was my big complain with other diets. It is well balanced and I got rid of high cholesterol after 2 months on this diet/exercise plan. I do not longer take cholesterol prescription since more than 3.5 years ago. I bought this book again because I gave my 2 ones as gift to other friends.

These books are awesome, inspiring and fill a void that American Muslims had, when growing up!Since the characters are American Muslims and the stories take place in America, the stories are relatable and help re-enforce the American Muslim identity in kids. My son and my friend's children (a boy and a girl) love these books and make connections with the stories and characters.They have:- Kind, caring, realistic, personable characters- Beautiful, cute, colorful graphics and material depicting stories that kids enjoy- Each story creates a good take away message for the kids.- Typically two stories in each book.There is a guide for parents at the beginning of each story.- At the end an Arabic letter is introduced, along with a few Arabic words that include that letter, in a fun way with pictures, pronunciation and English translations. I hardly write reviewes but can't hold it on this one. We have been fans and consumers of Noor kids since early. I encourage every family to have their books and not just use for Muslim kids, but also for non-Muslim kids as well. The books, content, material are top quality and simply works. Many media and books for Muslim kids does not attract them comparing to competition from Disney and it's alike. Noor kids competes and beats any other books we put in front of our kids. The model works. Try it, take some of these books to your school library, mosque library. I have following age kids: boys: 9,6 and 2 year old girl. Wonderful book. My kids enjoy the stories AND activities in this book. I find the wording in this book easy to understand for my 2 boys (ages 5 and 3.) Subject matter such as patience and resilience mixed with faith in Allah SWT is a difficult concept to teach young children BUT this book is able to relay it in a nice and concise visual presentation using a story like format. I love Noor Kids! Each book has two stories centered around a particular theme or value. I volunteer teach at our Islamic Center Sunday school and use these books to introduce topics from fasting to charity to the value of prayers and respecting our elders. I wish these books had been around when my own children were growing up.

This is a fascinating book by a superb writer, but potential readers should be aware of just what the book sets out to do. The subtitle is: “A Geologist Investigates Noah’s Flood.” Given that subtitle, one might expect that the book is similar to Ryan and Pitman’s NOAH’S FLOOD: THE NEW SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERIES ABOUT THE EVENT THAT CHANGED HISTORY (1998). Ryan and Pitman study the Black Sea and the fact that it was once the Black Lake. With glacial melt the Mediterranean rose and crashed through the Bosporus Strait. At the east side of the Black Sea there is Mt. Ararat. This is a fascinating story and an excellent book. David Montgomery does discuss this study, noting that there is no question of sea water and fresh water passing one another in the strait. What is under dispute is the timeframe in which the breakthrough occurred, Ryan and Pitman arguing for a cataclysmic event creating terrifying noise, the kind of flood that could easily become legendary.That is not Montgomery’s primary concern. He is not investigating the flood per se but rather (as the Amazon description states), looking at the manner in which the “mystery of the Bible’s greatest story shaped geology.” For example, many of the world’s geological phenomena were explained by the assumption of a great flood, phenomena which really could not be explained in this fashion. Thus, the book looks at the relationship between science and faith and the manner in which their interaction has shaped intellectual history. It reminds me of a book like Marjorie Hope Nicolson’s MOUNTAIN GLOOM AND MOUNTAIN GLORY, a splendid book which looks at the question of why mountains were seen as images of gloom and destruction (in the late Renaissance) and as images of grandeur and sublimity (in the Romantic period). She draws on contemporary explanations of the earth and the flood to construct the intellectual backdrop for this major aesthetic change.Montgomery’s procedure is similar. He looks at documents from the late middle ages/early Renaissance down to the modern period and outlines the manner in which studies of the flood affected views of geology. Simultaneously, he looks at stunning geological phenomena (walking from the floor of the Grand Canyon to its ledge, e.g. or looking at Everest from its base to its summit) and explaining the geological phenomena before him and the manner in which a flood would be unable to explain them. Two high points are, of course, the discovery of geological time and its parameters and the discovery of the movement of tectonic plates.He is harsh (but polite) with regard to ‘creationist’ explanations and very lucid with regard to the ongoing debate between gradualist change and catastrophic change, giving credit to each explanation. He talks about the relationship between science and faith and strikes the right notes on the claims of each. Fundamentalist explanations fail in the face of scientific fact but science is unable to explain whether or not there is a God and, if there is, how or why He chose to create in the manner which science points toward. Montgomery likes the Renaissance notion that God reveals Himself through the book of His word (scripture) and the book of His works (created nature), the latter offering a pivotal role to scientists.The book includes a helpful bibliography and it is written with great lucidity so that those not trained in geology will still enjoy and profit from it.Highly recommended.

A very good book. The writing is straight-forward and clear. The authorial tone is calm and reasonable, and very knowledgeable.The book explains some of the basic ideas of geology by giving us an easy-to-read short introduction to the history of geology and the development of the science. It gives very nice pocket portraits of all of the important people and ideas in the history of geology (except for Louis Agassiz and his discoveries about glacial activity, whose omission sort of surprised me). It is very respectful of religious beliefs about The Flood, and shows how early Christian investigators, eager to discover and understand more about the Biblical Flood, provided the energy and imagination behind the early advances in the science of geology. At the same time, without going into a polemical rant, it shows how the evidence (the rocks) simply does not support Creationist "flood geology".I think that this book would be a good purchase for someone who is genuinely open-minded, and interested in learning about the light that geology can shed on the subject of the Biblical Flood.

This book’s content contains a number of threads, including flood stories of different cultures around the world, history of the science of geology, history of religion and religious texts, the relationship between science and religion, and archaeology. While it may not have complete information on every one of these components (it doesn’t claim to), they are all woven skillfully into an interesting, coherent narrative that is very informative. Some of the major themes include the ebb and flow of the relationship between religion and science (sometimes harmonious and sometimes extremely discordant), the history of Christianity in Europe and the United States (including the rise of creationism), and how geology and geological theories have changed over time. The geological part of the narrative effectively exhibits in general how the scientific enterprise works, by showing how theories are proposed to explain known facts, how they are tested, and how new evidence can modify existing theories, sometimes substantially. It also illustrates something that is true of all sciences: that modifying existing theories to match the latest evidence usually does not happen overnight, and can sometimes take decades. Some in the critical reviews feel that the author is being disdainful and condescending to religious people. I didn’t get that sense at all regarding religious belief in general. However, he does make it clear that there is no support from geological evidence for the ideas of young earth creationists who believe literally in the global flood of Noah.

Highly recommend this book. The information and tools are accessible, simple to practice - yet effective. The key of course is practicing the techniques. The book is not long and not filled with a bunch of mumbo jumbo - gets to the point on what you are doing, why you are doing it, how to do it. Great read and would purchase the book again.

I think everyone is psychic to some degree and can benefit from the exercises in this book. If you have a tendency to space out and not be grounded and aware of your immediate surroundings this book can really help you. It helps you to orient yourself, protect your own personal space and be grounded. It is clearly written and practical.

This is a great book especially for beginners like me. The author patiently walks the reader through the steps needed to understand this interesting topic without making things too overwhelming or intimidating. I learned so much and it opened up a whole new world--one I felt compelled to delve deeper into my entire life. Thank you!

This book shares simple, easy to employ methods for keeping your own personal space secure and safe. He gives practical advice for the real world that you actually can utilize without feeling silly. I truly love the mood of his books and his no nonsense writing style. I always feel like I sat in an English pub and chatted without a really wise friend after reading one of his books. Buy it, you will be glad to add this little jewel to your self-help library.

I found the book easy to read and it had a lot of recommendations on what one can do to protect themselves. The previous owner wrote in the book a lot with a highlighter, but the binding and pages were intact. The book was not quite what I was looking for, but I would be helpful to someone who is new in the field and seeking information.
